Von der Leyen says that a register of destruction caused by Russia in its war against Ukraine will be created in The Hague

To create the conditions for the terrorist country Russia to pay for the destruction during the war against Ukraine, a special register of destruction will be created in The Hague. This is the first step in paying compensation to the state.

This was stated by the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen during a press conference announcing her participation in the European Council summit with the President of the European Council Charles Michel. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

"In Reykjavik, we will discuss how to bring Russia to justice. I support the creation of a tribunal to bring Russian crimes of aggression to justice. We will also decide to create a register of destruction in The Hague. This will be a first step, but a very good one towards Russian compensation," von der Leyen said.

Ukraine's Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko has said that Ukraine needs $411 billion to rebuild its economy after the war with the terrorist country Russia. Cooperation with the International Finance Corporation should become one of the tools for raising funds for the reconstruction.

"The parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation between Ukraine and the International Finance Corporation in raising funds for the country's recovery and supporting Ukrainian business. Sergii Marchenko spoke about the devastating consequences of the war, as well as the cost of large-scale reconstruction of the country," the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.

OBOZREVATEL previously reported that in Ukraine, owners of housing damaged as a result of hostilities can receive compensation from the state. Some citizens will be given priority for payments and will be given funds in the first place.
