"Thanks to the courage of the Armed Forces and the resistance of the civilian population": Sandu thanks Ukrainians for peace in Moldova
On the 500th day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moldovan President Maia Sandu addressed her people. She also thanked Ukrainians for peace in Moldova.
The address was published by her press service. Sanda stressed that Russia's invasion had led to deaths among innocent civilians and war crimes, particularly in Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel and Borodyanka.
According to her, a brutal war sows death and terror.
"Those in power, women and men, took up arms and stood up to defend their country. Millions of mothers with children and the elderly were forced to flee their homes and hide in basements, metro stations or flee to other parts of Ukraine or other countries," she said.
Sandu noted that thanks to the courage of the Ukrainian military, thanks to the resistance of the civilian population, "we have peace in Moldova".
"We stand in solidarity with Ukraine and we will do everything possible to be close to them," the Moldovan president stressed.
She also assured that her country would continue to host Ukrainians, help transport Ukrainian products, and assist in bringing war criminals to justice. Sanda stressed that Ukraine will win.
As a reminder, on 24 February 2022, Ukrainians woke up to a new reality - the reality of an unprovoked full-scale war for their survival, which the Russian Federation launched against our country. Exactly 500 days have passed since then, and looking back, we can summarise some interim results. OBOZREVATEL recalls the main stages of the war during this period.
