French President Emmanuel Macron stated this. He called on European countries not to stop providing military assistance to Ukraine.

Macron opined that Russia has become dependent on China and "has lost its critical free hand in the Baltic Sea" because of its actions, which led to Sweden's and Finland's decision to join NATO.

"Two years ago, this was unimaginable, but today it is already a geopolitical defeat," the French president said.

In his remarks, Macron stressed that "it will not be possible to defeat Russia militarily in war," and that Europe must assist Ukraine, both in preparing a counteroffensive and in the question of security guarantees in future negotiations.

"The architecture of European security will have to extend fully to Ukraine. It should also include the absence of confrontation with Russia and the restoration of a stable balance of power. But this is still a long way off," Macron said.
