The US has spent 96% of the funds allocated to help Ukraine: Biden says what will happen next

The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden said that the funds allocated by Congress to help Ukraine, which is fighting a full-scale Russian invasion, have been exhausted by 96%. In total, Washington has allocated more than $60 billion in aid to Kyiv.

This includes military, humanitarian, and economic aid, said National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby at a briefing on Wednesday, November 8. He specified that 96% of the funds have been spent out of the total amount provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the war.

"If we count the total amount of funds that have been provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, which is more than $60 billion, and this is not only security assistance, but also economic, financial and humanitarian assistance, we have used approximately 96% of what is left," said a Biden administration official.

According to the official, the U.S. Department of Defense has about $1.1 billion left "to replenish." In this regard, Kirby called on the US Congress to approve a request for additional assistance for Ukraine.

He added that the United States is confident that the Ukrainian Defense Forces will be able to retake the Ukrainian territories they have seized from the Russian occupiers. Washington has no doubt that the Ukrainian army will continue to achieve success on the battlefield.

It should be noted that the day before, the Democratic majority in the US Senate blocked a bill to help Israel separately from Ukraine, which the Republicans were trying to get approved. Last week, the House of Representatives passed a $14.3 billion bill to help Israel.
