"Tell that to the people in Bucha!" German minister explains why "non-violent resistance" against Ukraine is impossible
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius responded to a statement by Bishop Vicar Theo Paul of the diocese of Osnabrück. The latter had earlier suggested that Ukraine could counter Russian aggression in a "nonviolent" way.
This was reported by DW. The minister responded sharply to the vicar's statement during a speech at an ecumenical church convention in Osnabrück.
Note that Theo Paul expressed his opinion that after the beginning of full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, "too many have become supporters of the military logic," which has already caused a lot of trouble in the past. And he also stated that there are alternative methods of dealing with Russia other than "violent."
"Tell that to the people in Bucha. I can't tell them about non-violent resistance, I have tears of rage in my eyes," Pistorius said of this.
According to him, if arms deliveries to Kiev were stopped, it would lead to a speedy end to the war, but it would also mean the end for Ukraine.
At the same time, Pistorius expressed support for the idea of peace in the long run, but only Ukraine has the right to decide how to achieve it.
Recall that Germany announced the transfer of a new batch of missiles for Patriot systems in Ukraine. It is planned to transfer 64 missiles.
Earlier, Germany said that it would increase the supply of Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine. According to Boris Pistorius, Kyiv will receive more than a hundred combat vehicles. It is planned that the deliveries will be made by the end of this year.
