On the night of Tuesday, October 22, Russian occupation forces massively attacked Sumy region with kamikaze drones. Twenty-five targets were shot down over the region, while one of the enemy drones hit a residential building in Sumy, killing three residents, including a teenager.

The head of the family was injured, and the house was completely destroyed by a fire caused by a UAV hit. The consequences of the Russian war crime were described in the Sumy City Council, showing photos of the destruction.

The first to report the hit was the acting mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar. He said that rescuers from the State Emergency Service had arrived at the scene. The Sumy Regional Military Administration clarified that the attack, preliminarily by Shahed, resulted in civilian casualties.

According to the investigation, the attack took place at 00:02 on Tuesday. The drone hit a private house: A 50-year-old man was injured, his 50-year-old wife, 14-year-old daughter and 62-year-old sister were killed.

A neighbor of the family told the media that the owner was found and taken out of the damaged house by locals, while his wife and daughter were trapped in the rubble. The victim's 62-year-old sister lived separately in the outbuilding – she had a mental disorder and was probably unable to escape during the attack.

Their house and outbuildings in the yard were engulfed in fire, which rescuers later extinguished. The neighboring houses were also damaged.

The JFO noted that six houses were damaged and one destroyed in the area of Vasylivska Street in Sumy. The enemy also attacked critical infrastructure facilities in the regional center with drones.

At the same time, anti-aircraft gunners shot down 25 enemy drones in the sky over Sumy region at night.

Under the procedural supervision of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the violation of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting the consequences of the shelling. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by SBU investigators in the region.

As a reminder, on the morning of October 21, Russians massively attacked Sumy with Shaheds. According to preliminary data, the enemy sent more than 10 UAVs to the city. Seven hits were recorded, and three dozen houses, cars, garages, and a kindergarten building were damaged.

– On the night of October 21, the aggressor country used 116 drones and three missiles, including a ballistic missile, against Ukraine. The defenders of the sky shot down 59 enemy UAVs and suppressed almost fifty more with electronic warfare.

– Ukraine's air defense destroyed about ten attack drones used by Russia to attack Kyiv. Debris fell in several parts of the city, injuring one person.

– On the morning of October 21, Russians launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih for the second time in 24 hours. The Palace of Culture was damaged, and five people were injured.
