Zelensky says fierce fighting continues in Avdiivka, Marinka, Kupiansk and Bakhmut directions

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the situation in the Avdiivka, Marinka, Kupiansk and Bakhmut direction is intense. He also thanked all the defenders who held their positions and destroyed Russian troops.
He said this in an evening video address on Thursday, November 9. The corresponding video was published by the President's Office.
"Of course, the front. I am in touch with the military throughout the day. The hottest areas over the last day are Avdiivka, Marinka, Kupiansk and Bakhmut. I am grateful to all our brigades, each unit for their resilience, for their strength, for the destruction of the occupiers. Guys in the southern areas, I thank you for your strength. Our artillery, our missile forces and everyone who helps in the special services, I thank you for your accuracy. Some results inspire. There will be more. Glory to Ukraine!" the president said.
Zelensky said that today he held meetings with the Prime Minister on current issues and needs of the state, and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss his meetings and conversations with partners and new agreements that could be reached. Also on Thursday, talks were held with the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine on important intelligence results.
"I thank you. We continue to evacuate our citizens from the Gaza Strip: 89 of our people have been rescued so far. We continue to work. It is a very painstaking and delicate process. Today, the Security Service of Ukraine also presented a report on countering collaborators. Well done, guys," he said.
Zelensky also said that he had spoken with Indonesian President Joko Widodo today, whom he informed about the results achieved in attracting the world majority to the Peace Formula.
"I hope Indonesia will become part of this global work. [...] By the way, it was there that our Peace Formula was first presented a year ago, at the G20 summit," the Ukrainian leader noted.
He added that the parties also discussed the issue of global food security, which is our maritime export corridors. Clearing our sea of Russian warships is one of Ukraine's greatest successes.
"This gives more security not only to us but to the whole world. I am grateful to all our soldiers, all port workers, each and every one for keeping the Black Sea a living sea for global relations, not a zone of Russian terror," Zelensky said.
He added that the topic of the suffering of people in the Middle East was one of the main topics of conversation with the Indonesian president. According to him, it is very important that as many civilians as possible are protected and that the ongoing war in the Middle East does not lead to a full-scale collapse of international stability. Everyone needs security and peace.
Zelensky also spoke with Paraguayan President Santiago Peña. He noted that Ukraine's attention to Latin America and Latin America's attention to our country should only increase. It is right that Latin American countries should be involved in global affairs, as well as in the protection of human rights and the sovereignty of nations.
"We also discussed our diplomatic efforts on the Peace Formula and our joint work on international platforms. I am grateful for the support of Ukraine," the Head of State added.
He also thanked Azerbaijan, which provided assistance to our energy sector before the winter period.
"We understand that this winter's difficulties may be no less than last year. We are preparing. And the support of Ukraine, our people, and our energy sector is critically important," Zelensky emphasized.
In addition, according to the President, the government is working with all partners to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.
"We are also working with all partners to build air defense systems for Ukraine. We are trying to add strength to our air shield every week. The more protected the Ukrainian sky, Ukrainian cities and villages are, the more opportunities our people will have for economic activity. In particular, for defense production, among other things. No matter what happens in the world, Ukraine will have the strength to defend its sovereignty," he summarized.
As a reminder, Zelensky said that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has suffered at least five times fewer military losses than the aggressor country. He also added that the start of negotiations is possible only when the occupation forces leave our territory.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that by the end of the year, Ukraine would try to achieve combat results in "very specific areas" of the front. He also spoke about Kyiv's plan for 2024.
