Ukrainian Air Force says fall and winter will be of record number of drone attacks
In the fall-winter period of 2023/24, the Russian terrorist army will increase attacks with Shahed kamikaze drones. There is already a trend of increasing the number of drone attacks.
In September alone, the Russians launched more than 500 attack drones in Ukraine. Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this during the TV marathon
According to him, the Ukrainian army should adopt a variety of air defense systems. Even outdated Hawk systems are capable of effectively destroying missiles and drones.
"Ukraine should adopt what is possible to strengthen our air defense system. It's not just about air defense systems like Patriot, IRIS-T, or NASAMS. You can see Hawk systems slowly coming into service. This is an outdated system, but it is a combat unit, and each Hawk battery can effectively destroy both missiles and drones," Ihnat said.
The Air Force also warned of the threat of attack drones. Russian terrorists will focus on UAV attacks during the fall and winter.
Ihnat reminded that last winter the occupiers launched about 1000 UAVs across Ukraine. In September alone, the enemy used about 500 drones.
"It is necessary to fight against drones because this fall and winter will be of a record number of Shahed drone attacks as we've already seen more than 500 in September. I would like to remind you that more than 1,000 Shahed UAVs were used against Ukraine during the 6 months of the heating season last year. That's in 6 months. We already have more than five hundred in just one month. Therefore, we need to prepare against this weapon more," said Ihnat.
As a reminder, the Russian terrorist army is constantly using new tactics of shelling Ukraine with Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones. The enemy is trying to deceive air defense and electronic warfare systems.
Earlier it was reported that on the night of October 5, the Russian terrorist army once again launched a massive attack with Shahed kamikaze drones. As a result of the attack, an infrastructure facility in the Kropyvnytskyi region was damaged.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assumes that this fall the aggressor country Russia will intensify drone attacks rather than massive missile attacks on our regions. The defenders of the sky are preparing to shoot down targets and at the same time emphasize that the percentage of destruction may be different than the current figure of 70-80%.
