"They perceive local residents as cannon fodder": occupants may start mobilizing men in Mariupol

Occupants may start mobilizing men in Mariupol

Local men may be mobilized in the temporarily occupied Mariupol in Donetsk region. A decree on two waves of the so-called conscription into the ranks of the Russian invading forces was issued by the leader of the "DPR" Denis Pushilin.

This was reported by the Mariupol City Council on its official Telegram-channel. They published a photo of a document signed by the aggressor's henchman (to view the photo, scroll down to the end of the news).

Thus, according to the terrorist's "order," the so-called "summer" conscription of Mariupol men born in 1996-2005 will last until August 2023, and the "autumn" conscription will last until January 15, 2024.

At the same time, Pushilin instructed the occupation "administrations" to search for citizens who do not fulfill their "military obligations." In case of refusal to be drafted, men are threatened with criminal liability.

He also instructed medical institutions in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk region to conduct medical examinations for future "conscripts," promising compensation to hospitals.

The Mariupol City Council suggested that under such a "call" the occupiers would start a real mobilization into the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces. After all, the invaders are now actively preparing for a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Russians are constantly showing an incredible level of cynicism. They destroyed our city and now they want to force Mariupol residents to fight against their own. After all, they perceive local residents as cannon fodder. We believe that soon the Ukrainian Armed Forces will liberate our city and the people of Mariupol will be safe," the statement said.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Russian military and collaborators set up a pseudo-military enlistment office in Zaporizhzhia, forcing men from the temporarily occupied territory to register for military service. The hidden mobilization planned by the enemy is illegal and violates the customs of war.
