They don't want to be cannon fodder: desertion is rampant in Russian troops on the left bank of the Kherson region - Gumenyuk
On the occupied left bank of the Kherson region, cases of desertion among the Russian military have been recorded. The occupiers' command puts mobilised soldiers in the forefront of their defence, where they act as cannon fodder.
On April 28, Natalia Gumenyuk, a spokeswoman for the Southern Ukrainian Defence Forces, said this during a national telethon. She noted that the enemy "fails to convince itself" of the possibility of a long-term entrenchment on the left bank (to watch the video, scroll to the end).
"They still have a thriving desertion rate. They continue to fight among their own people, looking for them, trying to bring them back to their positions," said Gumenyuk.
According to her, the invaders continue to rotate, moving the mobilised to the front line, where they "become cannon fodder". This is done to deter any activity on the part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The next line of defence is occupied by more trained Russian units.
"This is also a sign of their awareness that the development of events will follow the scenario they have already experienced on the right bank," said Gumenyuk.
She added that the occupiers continue to shell the right bank of the Kherson region.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL:
- Natalia Gumenyuk said earlier that the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is already "slowly underway". Our military is now working to reduce the potential of the enemy group.
- According to Gumenyuk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kherson region are clearing the front line on the left bank of the Dnipro River, gaining "powerful results of combat work".
