The Ukrainian Armed Forces launch successful counterattacks near Bakhmut, and the occupants pull in reserves: ISW analysis of combat operations
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Bakhmut direction. Meanwhile, Russian forces are deploying reserves to the fortress city to move into a deep defense.

On the previous day, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bakhmut switched from defensive to offensive mode and advanced 200 to 1,000 meters in different directions.
She did not disclose details, but noted that the Russian troops are deploying reserves to the fortress city to prepare for a deep defense. Some units of the Wagner PMC still remain in the Russian rear.

Colonel General Oleksandr Syrsky, commander of the AFU Ground Forces, stressed that the Defense Forces were advancing on their flanks towards Bakhmut, while Russian troops were losing individual uncertain positions.
At the same time, Russian propagandists claimed that Ukrainian troops were conducting counterattacks in the area of Klishchiyivka (6 km southwest), Orikhovo-Vasylivka (10 km northwest), Berkhivka (6 km northwest), and Yakovlivka (15 km northeast).
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that Russian troops repulsed Ukrainian attacks on several settlements in the vicinity of Bakhmut.

However, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assured that the occupiers conducted only unsuccessful offensives against Klishchiyivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Ivanivske (5 km southwest of Bakhmut) and Pivnichne (20 km southwest).
At the same time, they added that Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the direction of Avdiivka, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces also repelled 13 enemy ground attacks near Maryinka (on the southwestern outskirts of Donetsk).
