"In one place air defense works, in another - mobile groups. In those areas where there is less concentration of air defenses, fighter jets can work. They can quickly take off from airfields, react quickly and try to destroy UAVs," Ignat said.

The AFU spokesman added that the Soviet MiG-29 and Su-25 are not able to guarantee 100% protection. But Ukrainian pilots do everything possible and impossible to neutralize the threat as much as possible.

At the same time, Ignat stressed, Western F-16 fighters are much more effective in shooting down aerial targets

"The aviation that we used to shoot down, in particular UAVs, is not as effective as we would like it to be. If we had an F-16, certainly this aircraft with its powerful radar and armament could accomplish 100 percent of its tasks in the sky," he summarized.
