The Kremlin wants to "liberate" four regions of Ukraine, but everything can change: Feigin names condition

The aggressor country Russia is not deterred by the enormous losses at the front, nor by the permission of Ukraine's Western allies to strike with their weapons on the territory of the Russian Federation. But if chaos breaks out in the Russian economy, the Kremlin's position will change.

This opinion was expressed by Russian human rights activist Mark Feigin in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA. "Putin will negotiate only when he sees an opportunity to achieve peace on his own terms," he said.

In this context, the human rights activist emphasized that the occupier's goals in the war against Ukraine, as well as the conditions for ending the war, remained unchanged – "the lifting of sanctions, a ban on Ukraine's accession to NATO and the 'liberation' of four regions of Ukraine – Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson." Other demands regarding the army, demilitarization, etc. also remain.

According to Feigin's estimates, despite the fact that the war of aggression has had an extremely negative impact on Russia, global economic problems will be avoided at least through 2025.

"I believe that Russia's economy can withstand 2025. Yes, the situation will deteriorate, gradually slide down, but it is still premature to say that this will be the main reason why Putin will go to the talks," he said.

The human rights activist added that all manifestations of discontent and protests are successfully eliminated in Russia, so we should not expect that the regime will be forced to change its position in Ukraine under the pressure of public opinion.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, the Ukrainian Defense Forces reported that the Russian occupation army is conducting an offensive in the Pokrovsk direction mainly with personnel, suffering huge losses. At the same time, the use of armored vehicles has been minimized.
