Syrskyi says when Ukrainian Armed Forces will start using cluster munitions

American cluster munitions have already arrived in Ukraine. They will soon be ready for use, and it is planned to use them in Bakhmut.
This statement was made by the Commander of the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi. He said this in an interview with the BBC.
"General Syrskyi confirmed that American cluster munitions have already arrived in Ukraine and will be ready for use within a few days," the publication said.
The journalists also noted that they "saw American M777 howitzers at the positions around Bakhmut, which will fire (cluster - ed.) shells".
The colonel general said that the liberation of the city from the Russian occupiers would have not only symbolic significance, as Bakhmut "also has strategic importance as a gateway to other key cities in the region".
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported:
- US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that cluster munitions were necessary for the Ukrainian Defence Forces, and the transfer of this type of ammunition does not affect the "moral authority" of either Kyiv or Washington.
- On 13 July, the commander of the Tavria operational and strategic grouping of troops, Oleksandr Tarnavsky, confirmed to CNN that the Defence Forces had already received cluster munitions from the United States. The Ukrainian defenders have not yet used them on the battlefield.
