"State media is enough for victories": the Ministry of Defence ridicules Russian fake news about destruction of Patriot SAM
After a nighttime missile attack on Ukraine, Russia claimed that its Kinzhal missile system had allegedly destroyed a Patriot air defence system in Kyiv. Ukraine's Ministry of Defence responded to these claims.
Ukraine's defence ministry responded to the fake news from the Russian defence ministry's press service with a good joke. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine posted its response on Twitter.
Russia does not need an army, as the pro-government media and the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence can easily "provide" it with "victories" on the battlefield, the Ukrainian ministry ironically noted.
"The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defence is more powerful than the armies of most countries. Russia doesn't even need an army to conquer the whole world; its state media and defence ministry spokesman Konashenkov are more than enough," the statement said.

At the same time, Deputy Minister of Defence Anna Maliar noted that Russian propagandists did not stop at the "destruction" of the Patriot SAM and went even further, stating that "2 Iris-T units were additionally destroyed". Also, according to the Kremlin's mouthpieces, the occupiers are constantly demonstrating success in the Bakhmut direction.
"The dissemination of the above narratives has a specific purpose - to hide the fact that Russia is actually afraid of a Ukrainian counter-offensive. Manipulations in the information space are aimed at creating a mythical image of the invincibility of the Russian "superpower" and intimidating the international and Ukrainian community," Maliar stressed.

On the night of May 16, the defenders of Ukrainian skies repelled a massive air attack by Russia, which it carried out with cruise and ballistic missiles. Ukrainian air defence forces shot down all 18 enemy targets, including six "Kinzhal". The aggressor forces launched them from aircraft and ships in three directions.
