Russia launched 18 missiles against Ukraine at night, including "Dagger" missiles: all of them were shot down by air defense forces

On the night of May 16, Ukraine's sky defenders repulsed a massive Russian air attack with cruise and ballistic missiles. All 18 enemy targets, including six "Dagger" missiles, were shot down by air defense forces and equipment.

The aggressor forces launched them from aircraft and ships from three directions. Valery Zaluzhny, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke about the details of the night attack.

"Around 03:30 on May 16, 2023, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine from the northern, southern, and eastern directions with 18 missiles of different types of air, sea, and land-based missiles," he said.

According to him, the Russian war criminals fired six Kh-47M2 "Kynzhal" aerial ballistic missiles from six MiG-31K aircraft, and nine "Kalibr" cruise missiles and three land-based missiles (S-400, "Iskander-M") from ships in the Black Sea.

"All 18 missiles were destroyed by the air defense forces and means of the Air Force of the AFU," the general stressed.

He added that on the night of May 16, Russia also attacked Ukraine with strike drones of the Shahed-136/131 type, and also conducted aerial reconnaissance by three operational-tactical drones Orlan-10 and SuperCum.

"All - destroyed! Glory to Ukraine! Total - to victory!" - Zaluzhny stated.

The Air Force Command of the AFU specified that the defenders shot down six Shaheds and three other occupant drones during the night.

Recall that during Tuesday night's air-raid alert, very powerful explosions were heard in the Kyiv region. The defenders of the skies shot down rockets and Shaheda launched by the occupants on their approach to the capital. It is known that in several districts of Kyiv the fragments of missiles damaged buildings, and there are victims.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on the night of May 15, the defenders of the Ukrainian sky shot down four Iranian-made Shahed-131/136 drones. Also, one reconnaissance enemy UAV was neutralized.
