Reznikov names the condition under which Ukraine will agree to China's mediation in a peaceful settlement

Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said that Ukraine will agree to China's mediation in ending the war against the aggressor country Russia only under one condition. This can only happen if Beijing forces Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin to withdraw his occupation army from Ukraine.

The head of the defence ministry stressed that only after this condition is fulfilled can we talk about a peaceful settlement. Reznikov said this in an interview with The Straits Times.

According to him, there are currently no prerequisites for Russia to be ready to live in peaceful coexistence with Ukraine. The first step for this should be the complete liberation of Ukrainian territories from the Russian occupation army.

"Let them show a gesture of goodwill and withdraw their armed forces from the territory of Ukraine. After that, we will consider that this parliamentarian (China - Ed.) has influence on Russia. If not, I'm sorry, why should we sit and waste time?" - the defence minister said.

It is noteworthy that during the Asian security summit in Singapore, Reznikov met with his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu. After the meeting, the head of the Ukrainian defence ministry said that China has leverage over Russia, but Beijing's intentions in resolving this problem remain unclear.

"I believe that China has become the older brother and Russia the younger brother. The older brother can convince the younger one to stop this bloody war. But this is more of a hope than a belief," Reznikov stressed.

Li Hui, the Chinese government's special representative for Eurasian affairs, said that there are "many difficulties" between Ukraine and Russia. However, despite this, neither side "closed the door" to negotiations.

After that, the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, said that our country was not going to start a dialogue with the aggressor and was "keeping the door to negotiations with the aggressor country closed".

Moreover, China's special representative for Eurasia, Li Hui, called on the West to stop supplying Ukraine with weapons and start peace talks.

Earlier it was reported that China is considering sending another "peacekeeping mission" to end the war in Ukraine. This idea arose after the first mission failed to achieve results.

It is noteworthy that during Russia's full-scale military aggression against Ukraine, some countries have come up with dubious peace initiatives to end the war. These proposals contain so-called compromises, which can often be seen as pushing Ukraine to surrender its territories and negotiate with Russian terrorists. As OBOZREVATEL previously reported:

- the EU said that China should push the aggressor country Russia to leave the territory of Ukraine. If this does not happen, relations between the European Union and Beijing will never be able to develop normally;

- President Zelenskyy said that during the talks, Chinese leader Xi Jinping promised not to support Russia. We are talking about the transfer of weapons or other technologies.
