'Inseparable couple': two mobilised from Russia who boasted of joint photos killed in Ukraine

Occupants suspected of romantic relationships

In Ukraine, Alexei Melekhov and Artem Chuprov, two friends-occupiers from the Verkhnetoyemsky District of the Arkhangelsk region of the Russian Federation, were killed. They actively shared photos of themselves online, which led to suspicions of romantic relationships.

According to Russian media, 22-year-old Melekhov from the village of Poperechka was killed on March 11. Chuprov, 27, from the village of Chasovenskaya, was killed a few days later, on March 14 (to see the photo, scroll down to the bottom of the news story).

Both were called up as part of the 'partial' mobilisation in the autumn of 2022.

Melekhov graduated from a technical school with a degree in car repair, then served in the army and worked for Aviаlеsokhrana in the village of Verkhnyaya Toyma. In the spring of 2022, he completed a parachute firefighter course.

"In May, I flew on my first business trip to Kurgan, then in the summer I flew to the Komi Republic, participated in extinguishing our Arkhangelsk fires, and in the autumn I had a leave and mobilisation," the Russian media wrote.

After school, Chuprov got a job and then served in a separate motorised rifle brigade of the Northern Fleet as a scout and medic.

"An inseparable couple - two friends, and possibly more - have been killed in Ukraine... Russian sources mention only friendship and keep silent about what is clearly visible in Chuprov's album - there is more than one photo of him with Melekhov," said Irakli Komakhidze, co-founder of InformNapalm, OSINT expert.
