General Milley: Russia is wasting people in Bakhmut for 'very little gain', their morale is low

Mark Milley tells about fierce battles for Bakhmut

Fierce battles continue for the Ukrainian town of Bakhmut in Donbas, in which the occupying Russian forces are losing many of their soldiers for "very little gain". At the same time, the occupiers do not have the same willpower and motivation as the soldiers of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

This was stated by US General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at a press conference after the meeting of the partner countries' defence ministers in the Ramstein format on April 21. He noted that the Ukrainian military, despite the fierceness of the fighting in Bakhmut, is showing excellent results, Interfax Ukraine reports.

"Russia is spending significant human resources for very little benefit," Milley said.

According to the general, the defenders of Ukraine are highly motivated to fight for the independence of their homeland, while the Russian occupiers have neither proper discipline, nor high morale, nor leadership.

Milley also noted that the aggressor state of Russia, which has been waging a brutal war against Ukraine for more than a year, continues to fail in achieving its strategic goals.

On April 21, Germany hosted the 11th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) in the Ramstein format. The partner countries discussed their capabilities to strengthen the Ukrainian army. Kyiv's priority is air defence systems, including combat aircraft, as well as shells, missiles with a range of 100 km or more and other military equipment. All the details of the meeting are in OBOZREVATEL's article.

It should be noted that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russian invaders continue to attempt to seize control over the entire territory of Donbas. Bakhmut remains the epicentre of the fighting, and the risk of missile attacks remains throughout the country.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the main task for Ukraine is to de-occupy all the occupied territories and free our people from Russian captivity.
