Mahuchikh speaks out about Russians

Paris 2024 Olympic champion Yaroslawa Mahuchikh has once again criticized the admission of athletes from Russia to the tournament in the French capital in the so-called neutral status. The track and field athlete noted that everyone around her is well aware of the country such athletes represent, and the terrorist state continues to bomb Ukraine during the Games.

Mahuchikh said this during her conversation with journalists at the Ukrainian House at the Olympic Games, an OBOZ.UA correspondent reports. The winner of the high jump competition emphasized that the Russians admitted to the Olympics and did not speak out against Russia's military aggression.

"I want to say that we all know perfectly well where these athletes are from. And they have not said a single word against the war. I mean, they didn't even speak out for peace. That's why I find it unpleasant. The Olympic Games have always been about peace. And in principle, all wars have always stopped for the period of the Games. But Russia did not stop, and during these Games, there were already massive attacks on Ukrainian cities. Therefore, I do not understand how a terrorist can be allowed to compete in a peaceful competition," Mahuchikh said.

Earlier, Yaroslava's Russian rival Olena Kulichenko, who competed in Paris under the flag of Cyprus, was outraged by the Ukrainian's statement about the admission of athletes from Russia to the 2024 Olympics. The athlete also complained that the topic of the war in Ukraine was preventing her from enjoying the Games.
