3 ways to combat hyperpigmentation: three dermatologist tips from their own experience

Excessive pigmentation can be helped in simple ways

Groomed and beautiful skin is a reason for pride and self-confidence. Everyone strives to maintain it for years to come. However, every day our face is exposed to negative environmental influences - and this can cause numerous skin problems. Pigment spots are the most common of these. Sun protection throughout the year, proper care and quality cosmetic products can help.

Ultraviolet radiation is particularly damaging to the skin, which is why it's so important to minimize its effects. Dermatologist Flora Kim, M.D., who herself has struggled with hyperpigmentation, told Women'sHealth how to keep your skin beautiful and healthy.

It is believed that pigment spots appear on the skin with the years, but Flora Kim assures that they can occur under the influence of sunlight, even in adolescence. That's why the best way to fight them is prevention.

Avoid the sun

To prevent age spots from ruining your beauty, it is not enough to use sunscreen, because the sun's rays are quite aggressive. To keep your skin healthy, it is important to avoid even the slightest sun exposure. This means wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, even on cloudy days, and using an antioxidant and sunscreen on all exposed body surfaces.

Use an anti-pigmentation product

To prevent or reduce the appearance of age spots, Dr. Kim advises choosing a quality hyperpigmentation cream. It usually has a brightening effect and may tingle slightly when applied.

Take good care of your skin

Daily care is the best way to preserve beauty and youthfulness. For cleansing and tinting, choose the right products for you. Do not use the same moisturizer all year round, as your skin's needs change with the season and for individual reasons. Be sure to finish your treatment with a sunscreen regardless of the time of year.

And don't forget to cleanse your skin in the evening. Use oily cleansers and cosmetics suited to your skin type to get rid of daytime dirt, sweat and dead skin particles.

As we can see, it is quite difficult to get rid of age spots, which is why it is worth organizing your care in such a way as to prevent their appearance at an early age.
