"It is a matter of time": Dmytro Kuleba names 2 factors that determine the delivery of F-16 fighters to Ukraine
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is confident that Ukraine will receive Western F-16 fighter jets. According to him, it is only a matter of time, as it was with all other types of weapons.
The Minister made this statement on the air of "Breakfast with 1+1". According to him, the transfer of Western fighter jets may depend on the United States or a counter-offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"The F-16s will come, it's a matter of time. I think it will depend on the US decision and the results of the counter-offensive," Kuleba said.
He added that due to the allies' hesitation on this issue, Ukraine will pay an additional price in human lives.
"If we had F-16s right now, our counter-offensive would have been much faster, and we would have been able to save many more lives of our soldiers and civilians who suffer from missile strikes," the Foreign Minister added.
It is worth noting that in order to win the war with Russia, Ukraine needs to deprive the enemy of the ability to use aviation to support ground forces. This is why the Ukrainian Armed Forces need modern Western F-16 fighters.
Earlier, Kuleba spoke about the progress in negotiations with allies to provide our country with F-16 fighters. Several countries have already expressed their readiness to start training Ukrainian pilots.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that our country cannot delay the de-occupation of its territories from Russian invaders. That is why the army will not wait for Western partners to decide on the transfer of modern Western fighter jets to Ukraine.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the spokesperson for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, said that dozens of Ukrainian pilots are already ready to fly American F-16 fighters. According to him, they are ready to fight with these aircraft at least tomorrow.
