On the morning of 17 July, the governor of Crimea temporarily occupied by Russia, Sergey Aksyonov, said that there was an "emergency" on the Crimean bridge, due to which traffic on it was stopped. It turned out that there after overnight explosions there formed several large dips in the roadbed and there are victims.

About the "lack of panic" the traitor wrote in social networks, indicating that "the emergency event occurred in the area of the 145th pillar from the side of the Krasnodar region". "Law enforcement agencies and all responsible services are working. Measures are being taken to restore the situation," - said Aksyonov.

According to monitoring channels, explosions were heard at 03:04 and 03:20 on one section of the bridge, causing damage, the extent of which the occupiers specified. At the same time, an air alert was allegedly declared in Kerch.

A video from local social media shows how the bridge spans have separated, forming a chasm. At the same time, residents of a remote neighborhood took a photo showing the lack of lighting on part of the crossing. Subsequently, there were also shots of smoke rising above the bridge.

The Russian propaganda channel Baza reported that two people were killed and one injured as a result of the bridge span collapse: the car was mangled and the front seat passenger's head broke through the windshield. At first the victims were called "tourists", and then it was stated that they were the family of an official from Belgorod region: 36-year-old Natalia K. and her husband were killed, their 14-year-old daughter Angelina was hospitalized.

"In the auto, injured in the explosion, was a family from the Belgorod region. A 14-year-old girl was taken to one of the hospitals in the Krasnodar region. The schoolgirl was diagnosed with a combined body injury, as well as a broken nose and concussion of the brain. Her parents died after the accident on the Crimean bridge," Russian blogs wrote.

Propagandists wrote that eyewitnesses really heard the sounds of explosions. They also claimed that after the explosions, thick smoke was seen in the area of one of the bridge piers.

Local chat rooms complained that there was no traffic on the bridge, cars were being turned around in the opposite direction.

It is reported that the work of the ferry crossing between the temporarily occupied Crimea and Russia's Krasnodar Region has also been suspended. Currently, the only available route for Russians from the Russian Federation to the peninsula is through the occupied areas of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.

The Russian Transport Ministry has denied the information about damage to the supports of the Crimean bridge. It confirmed only damage to the roadbed on the spans on the Crimean side. Local blogs stated that the span of the Crimean bridge towards Taman had been destroyed and another one towards Kerch had sagged.

"According to preliminary information, around three o'clock there was the sound of an explosion and the lights went out. A few minutes later, traffic was blocked on the bridge. At 03:20 there was another explosion in the area of the railroad bridge. The level of damage is being assessed, if the situation allows, traffic on one of the lanes will be restored today", - expressed hope propagandists.

The adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andryushchenko, emphasized that at least two large roadbed failures had formed after the incident on the Crimean bridge.

"It is now illegal for Russian tourists to get to Crimea only through Mariupol. This is plus almost a thousand kilometers. The logistical military shoulder is simply over. Somewhere out there the bridge in Chongar is very sad," he ironically emphasized.

Against the backdrop of the so-called Crimean Bridge Emergency, Institute for the Study of War analyst George Barros vividly demonstrated the significance of the crossing for Russian military aggression against Ukraine.

"Russia will have only one land-based supply line - a coastal highway on the Sea of Azov - to support (or evacuate) tens of thousands of its troops in occupied Kherson and Crimea," he pointed out.
