World leaders congratulated Volodymyr Zelensky on receiving the prestigious Charlemagne Prize, which was presented to the Ukrainian people and the president for his contribution to the development of Europe and European integration. Politicians noted that Europe stands together with Ukraine and our history will be common.

Thus, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on her Twitter account, said that with this award Zelensky sent a clear signal: Europe will always be by the Ukraine's side.

"With this award we are sending a clear message: we are with President Volodymyr Zelensky. We are with the Ukrainian people. We stand by their side until together we achieve the impossible. Glory to Ukraine! May Europe live!" - she wrote.

The EC president added that the people of Ukraine and its president are fighting for the values and commitments that the Charlemagne Prize represents.

"By doing this, they are also fighting for our freedom and values. Democracy and the rule of law, freedom of speech, freedom to create our own destiny," the statement said.

Roberta Metzola, head of the European Parliament, also stressed in a Twitter post that Ukraine is not alone in its fight against a full-scale Russian invasion.

"Looking to a shared future in one of Europe's historic cities. Today in Aachen we saw the best of Europe. President Zielenski, you are not alone. We are with you. You have friends, allies and partners in Europe," the politician noted.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said the Charlemagne Prize is an expression of European respect for the courage and determination of the Ukrainian people and president.

"Russia's war of invasion has brought the EU and Ukraine closer than ever before. Our history will already be shared." he wrote on Twitter.
