Zelenskyy says Ukraine is ready for EU accession negotiations

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that our country is fully prepared for negotiations on membership in the European Union. They should begin this year.

He said this in an address on 24 July, the end of the 516th day of the war with Russia. The video was published on the President's official Youtube channel (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).

The Ukrainian leader stressed that Ukraine is doing everything necessary to ensure that negotiations on EU accession start as soon as possible. Kyiv also expects full readiness from the EU.

"I have also held several political meetings, in particular on the European Union and our integration. This year, we should start negotiations on membership. Ukraine is fully prepared for this - we are doing what is necessary on our part. And we are doing everything possible to ensure that the EU is also fully prepared. This year," Zelenskyy stressed.

It should be noted that at the NATO summit in Vilnius, Zelenskyy met with President of the European Council Charles Michel and discussed Ukraine's further steps towards European integration.

"The interlocutors paid special attention to the issue of Ukraine's preparation for the start of negotiations on EU membership, and also reviewed the state of implementation by our country of the relevant seven recommendations of the European Commission," the press service of the Presidential Administration reported.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that now is the time to start serious negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union. He stressed that it is impossible to deny the fact that Ukraine influences the strength of Europe.
