What an interesting dessert to make for Halloween: a recipe for a "spooky" pie

If you're looking for something interesting to make for Halloween right now, keep this simple idea in mind. You don't need anything extravagant for this dessert, but it turns out to be quite "spooky" and extremely tasty. A face, which should be formed from dough and placed on top, adds to the effectiveness of this dish.

The idea of making a Halloween pie was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Tatiana Makarenko (sni danke). For the filling, you can use canned cherries that you have closed in the summer.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • flour - 380 g
  • sugar - 150 g
  • butter - 180 g
  • eggs - 2 pcs.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • cherries - 500 g
  • sugar - 50-70 g
  • water - 50 ml (for starch)
  • juice - 70 ml.
  • starch - 1 tbsp.
  • cinnamon - 0.5 tsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Put sugar and cinnamon in a saucepan.

2. Pour in 70 ml of cherry juice or water.

3. Bring to a boil.

4. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of starch in 50 malalaters of water, stir, and pour into the syrup.

5. Cook until thick, stirring constantly.

6. Add the pitted cherries to the syrup and stir constantly for another 5 minutes. Cool the filling completely.

7. For the dough, cut the cold butter into cubes and mix with flour and sugar.

8. Rub into crumbs with your hands.

9. Add 2 small eggs and knead the dough.

10. Divide into two parts.

11. Spread one part over the mold, mash with a fork, and put in the freezer.

12. Roll out the second part and cut out the face.

13. Take the mold out of the freezer, and put the cooled filling in it. Make a scary face on top.

14. Brush with egg yolk and put in the oven for 30 minutes at 180 degrees.
