Traditional German Christmas cookies: step-by-step recipe with proportions
For Christmas, Germany traditionally makes stollen and cookies with nuts. On the eve of this holiday, finding a recipe for schollen is not a problem, but finding a description of the step-by-step process of making this sweet is not so easy.
However, food blogger Yulia Senich has solved this problem and posted an exact step-by-step recipe for making traditional German Christmas cookies on her Instagram. It is definitely worth a try.
Ingredients
- Butter - 170 gr
- Flour - 250 gr
- Yolk - 1 pc
- Sugar - 100 gr
- Chopped almonds - 50 gr
- Cocoa - 50 gr
- Melted chocolate - 100 gr
- Coconut flakes - for decoration
Method of preparation
1. Pour sugar into the sifted flour and add soft butter and egg yolk.
2. Knead with your hands and bring together.
3. Divide the dough into 4 parts, 2 parts for cocoa cookies, 1 for shortbread, and 1 for almond cookies.
4. For regular biscuits, roll out the dough on a floured surface and press out biscuits with a cookie cutter. Place them on a baking sheet.
5. For cocoa cookies, stir cocoa into one part of the dough.
6. Roll out both parts of the dough and place them on top of each other. Roll into a roll and cut into pieces.
7. For the almond cookies, add chopped almonds to the dough, roll it out into a layer and press it into a cookie cutter.
8. If you want, you can make a depression and put a little thick jam.
9. Bake the cookies at 180 degrees for 7-10 minutes.
10. For the icing, melt the chocolate in the microwave and dip the cookies in the chocolate.
11. Sprinkle with coconut flakes or chopped nuts.
