The value of Medvedchuk's property may have been underestimated: sale of ex-MP's belongings banned
The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has banned the sale of the seized property of high-profile traitor Viktor Medvedchuk. The decision applies even to the ex-MP's property that has already been sold at auctions.
According to the head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), Olena Duma, the HACCU made this decision on December 25. The court attributed the request to the risk of asset loss.
"This property, in particular, includes objects that have already been sold by the National Agency through the Prozorro.Sale system, such as a Maybach car, watches, paintings, ATVs and buggies totaling more than UAH 10.2 million," Duma wrote.
According to the court's ruling, the ban is justified by the possible risks of alienation and reduction of the value of assets owned by the defendants or their related companies. The court believes that the sale of these assets may make it impossible to enforce the court decision in case the claims for their recovery to the state revenue are satisfied.
"At the same time, ARMA has already sold part of this property, and the proceeds were transferred to the state budget of Ukraine. However, the HACCU decision calls into question the legality of such procedures in the Prozorro.Sale system and undermines confidence in the transparent management of seized assets," Duma said.
According to her, the court did not involve the National Agency in the case, although the HACC was informed that some of the assets had already been transferred to the needs of Ukraine's defense during the war. In particular, we are talking about a Gulfstream G650 airplane and a Bell-427 helicopter, which were sent to the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
"The Agency has already suspended all active bidding to ensure the enforcement of the court decision and is preparing to appeal the decision in the appellate instance. We expect a fair and lawful decision of the Appeals Chamber that will take into account the interests of the state and society. In this regard, an important question arises: does the same fate await Medvedchuk's arrested yacht Royal Romance, the sale of which will bring billions to the budget?" the head of the ARMA summarized.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that Viktor Medvedchuk's brother also had his property, which he tried to hide from the investigation, confiscated. We are talking about "Betonbud," a company registered in Lviv, which bought sand illegally mined in the Lviv region from "Kerambud" LLC, which was also confiscated.
