When will queues disappear at checkpoints on the border with Poland?

Polish carriers have lifted the blockade for trucks at the Krakivets, Rava-Ruska, and Yagodyn checkpoints with Ukraine. However, there are still queues at the unblocked checkpoints due to the large number of vehicles. The situation at the checkpoints will stabilize in the near future.

This was stated by the Polish Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak, on RMF. He added that the queues at the border crossings should disappear in the coming days.

The minister noted that after signing the agreement with the carriers, he spoke on the phone with Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov. According to him, it depends on the fulfillment of the protesters' demands by the Ukrainian side whether they will resume the protest on March 1.

Klimczak also emphasized that he would do everything possible to fulfill the demands of the Polish carriers by March 1. He added: "Kyiv has agreed to meet with Warsaw to cancel the electronic queue for empty trucks with Polish registration returning from Ukraine. Also, the period of stay in Ukraine for Polish trucks was extended from 20 to 60 days.

Meanwhile, Romanian farmers continue to partially block truck traffic near the Siret and Vicovu de Sus border crossing points with Ukraine, despite reaching an agreement with the government. This was reported by the assistant head of the Chernivtsi border guard detachment, Ihor Zarudnev, Ukrinform reports.

"Near the Siret checkpoint, which is opposite our Porubne crossing point, the blocking of trucks has been going on for the third day in a row. However, just an hour ago, the first batch of 10 trucks was allowed to cross from the Romanian side. The trucks are still not being cleared to leave Ukraine because of the blockade," Zarudnev said.

As previously reported by OBOZ.UA, due to the blockade of the Ukrainian border by the Poles, the dynamics of vehicle imports at regional customs have not undergone significant changes. But in general, since the beginning of the year, clearances at some other customs offices, in particular, Volyn Customs, have increased. During the lockdown, the number of cars imported in large car carriers decreased.
