Svitolina won her second victory at the Olympics

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina made a comeback in her match against the sixth-ranked American Jessica Pegula in the second round of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. After losing the first set, our compatriot managed to turn the tide and win the match in three games - 4:6, 6:1, 6:3.

The rivals spent almost two hours on the court. During this time, the Ukrainian tennis player made three aces, realized five out of eight breakpoints, and won 30 active games.

Elina recorded four double faults and 32 unforced errors in her passive. Interestingly, Pegula was able to serve exactly square 100% of the second balls, but that didn't help her.

Svitolina's next opponent will be the Czech Republic's 10th ranked Barbora Krejcikova. The girls have met each other only once, and the match took place at Roland Garros, which hosts the Olympic tournament. In 2021, Elina lost 3:6, 2:6.

In the third round of the Games, the Odesa woman joined Marta Kostiuk, who had previously beaten the tournament's host Clara Burel.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukraine's top-ranked player Marta Kostiuk told about the nervous start of the Olympics and dancing without raincoats in the downpour.
