Serhiy Bubka and Snoop Dogg to carry the Olympic flame in Paris

Rappers Snoop Dogg and MC Solaar, Olympic pole vault champion Serhiy Bubka and actress Laetitia Casta will take part in the torch relay in Saint-Saint-Denis (a suburb of Paris) a few hours before the opening of the 2024 Olympics, Le Paris reports. The ceremony will take place on Friday, July 26.

Actor and director Bradley Cooper declined the invitation to run the relay.

Celebrities will carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, an ethnically diverse northern suburb of Paris that is home to the Olympic stadium and a water sports center, Mayor Mathieu Hanotin told Agence France-Presse on Monday.

The Olympic flame has spent two months crossing France. On Friday morning, it will be carried through the athletes' village located between Saint-Denis and neighboring Saint-Ouen before the ceremony heads to the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Center, which are a few kilometers away.

Snoop Dogg, 52, was born in Los Angeles, where the next Games will be held in 2028. The torch relay will not be the only appearance of the rapper at the 2024 Games, as he will also be a commentator on the Olympic Games on the American TV channel NBC.
