Queues are possible on the border of Ukraine with the EU: at which checkpoints traffic is hampered

It will be harder for Ukrainians to get into the European Union – road repairs have begun at the Chop – Záhony checkpoint on the border with Hungary. In addition, in October, the Nyzhankovychi – Malhowice checkpoint on the border with Poland will temporarily cease to operate.

This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine. It is noted that road works at the international checkpoint "Chop – Zahony" are carried out in the direction of "exit from Ukraine" from the bridge over the Tisza to the passenger and cargo sections.

The work will last for several weeks, starting on September 25, with no exact date of completion. This may hamper traffic, so drivers planning to cross the border in this direction are asked to take this into account when planning their trip.

In addition, the Poles are preparing to open the Nyzhankovychi – Malhowice border crossing point. Therefore, starting from October 1, 2024, customs formalities will be suspended and vehicles will no longer be allowed to pass in both directions at the Nyzhankovychi border section (customs department No. 5 of the Smilnytsia customs post).

This section of the border is intended for the passage of empty commercial vehicles with a total weight of more than 7.5 tons, except for vehicles transporting hazardous substances and vehicles purchased abroad that are imported into Ukraine for release into free circulation. Its construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that the passage of persons and vehicles through the Ustyluh – Zosyn checkpoint is also carried out in a slow mode due to the registration of persons on laptops. In addition, repair work is underway at Solotvyno – Sighetu – Marmației, which restricts traffic.
