Russian woman arrested for calling not to vote for Putin

In the city of Obninsk, Kaluga region, security forces detained a woman who was sharing posters against Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin online. Irina Chernikova, a 36-year-old local, called for voting "for anyone but Putin."

The ASTRA project learned about the activist's detention. The Russian woman supported the Anti-Corruption Foundation, organized by Alexei Navalny in 2011, and the anti-Putin and anti-war movement Vesna.

According to the so-called law enforcement agencies, the resident of Obninsk carried out "destructive information activities" and distributed "extremist materials". A criminal investigation was launched against the woman.

According to media reports, Chernikova posted links to the FBC Internet project "Russia without Putin 2024", links to the Telegram channel "Navalny's Team" and the YouTube channel "Navalny Live". She also shared a post by the Vesna movement's Telegram channel with an appeal from women from the Put Domoy (Way Home) organization to Putin asking him to return the mobilized.
