Podoliak explains whether Mongolia will dare to arrest Putin during his visit

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit Mongolia next week. However, the country is unlikely to execute an international arrest warrant for him.

This opinion was expressed by Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, during a TV marathon. He noted that there is a warrant for Putin's arrest for the genocide of Ukrainian children, and there is also the Rome Statute, which Mongolia has signed. This means that the country is obliged to arrest the Russian dictator.

However, Mongolia is unlikely to do so. This, in turn, threatens to completely nullify the reputation of the International Criminal Court (ICC). According to Podoliak, Putin is doing this deliberately.

"There is already an ICC warrant for the genocide of Ukrainian children. Mongolia has to detain him. Whether he will be imprisoned or whether he will be held accountable for this - this will be determined by the judicial authorities. Mongolia has to detain him. Will it do so? Most likely not. That's why Putin's is visiting it, to show that there are no rules, no ICC, and no Rome Statute," Podoliak said.

Earlier, it became known that Vladimir Putin's visit to Mongolia, scheduled for September 3, will take place without the threat of arrest despite the warrant from the International Criminal Court, the media reported. Official Ulaanbaatar assured Moscow that it would not detain the so-called president of the Russian Federation.

As reported, the official visit of the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin to Mongolia is timed to the 85th anniversary of the victory of Soviet and Mongolian troops over the Japanese army near the Khalkhin Gol River.

In total, The Hague has issued six arrest warrants for Russian criminals. In addition to Putin, Sergei Shoigu, Valery Gerasimov and other generals of the Russian Armed Forces received theirs.

Recently, Mexico, which has signed the Rome Statute, invited the Russian dictator to the inauguration of new President Claudia Sheinbaum on October 1. Ukraine and the EU have called on Mexico to arrest Putin if he arrives.

Earlier, Swiss President Viola Amherd said that Putin would not be arrested in her country if he came to the next Peace Summit, and that they were ready to make an exception for the sake of negotiations on the war in Ukraine.
