According to expert Adam Oakley, this habit exposes the product to constant temperature fluctuations due to frequent opening and closing of the door. This creates favorable conditions for the growth of bacteria that destroy the natural protective layer of the shell, which accelerates spoilage.
In addition to temperature changes, eggs are exposed to light mechanical stress due to door movement. This may seem insignificant, but over time, the quality of the product deteriorates.
How to store eggs properly
Focus on the right location in the refrigerator. Eggs should be stored in the center or lower section of the refrigerator, where the temperature is stable and usually does not exceed 20°C.
Avoid room temperature. Storing eggs at room temperature leads to a loss of quality within a few days, especially during the warm season. In the refrigerator, they remain fresh for up to 3-5 weeks.
Use original packaging. Eggs should be stored in the original packaging. This not only prevents odors from being absorbed through the porous shell, but also provides additional protection.
Do not wash eggs before storing them. The natural coating of the shell protects against bacteria, so washing them is a bad idea.
