A school in the Kharkiv region that was completely destroyed by Russian troops has become one of the best in Ukraine in terms of NMT performance. The school was ranked third in the region and was among the top 200 in the NMT results in Ukrainian language and literature.

The school is located in a frontline community that suffered in the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion. Danylo Yashchuk, an analyst at the Center for Joint Action, told about this on the Dopamine for Education podcast by NUS Media and Smart Education NGO.

The destroyed school was impossible to rebuild, it was destroyed along with all the equipment and technology - computers, projectors, and teaching materials.

"However, the school managed to establish such high-quality online education that they reached the third place in the region in terms of NMT performance and were among the top 200 schools in Ukraine in Ukrainian language and literature tests," Yashchuk said.

According to him, the community managed to preserve the quality of education and to establish the process of communication and learning in this school so that it became almost the best.

The analyst noted that there are other cases where local officials are trying to give schools opportunities for development. For example, in one of the de-occupied communities, students of a destroyed school were transferred to another institution so that they could study offline. Previously, schools at the city level often competed for prestige and first place.

The head of the education department came to the principals and, according to Yashchuk, asked them to accept these students and allow them to continue their education offline.

"And, surprisingly, the principals of all the schools in the city that were approached with this request agreed to it. Despite the fact that the institution is dilapidated and waiting for its repair and restoration, we managed to organize offline learning for these children. They are now being bused to the nearest educational institutions and other schools, and they can study with their peers to the fullest, despite the fact that their school was damaged," he said.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, the first "kindergarten on wheels" has been launched in Kherson region. The bus, which provides classes for preschoolers, is equipped with all the necessary materials for learning and sports equipment for active leisure.
