On January 8, the wreckage of an unknown missile was found near Volgograd, Russia. It was discovered by utility workers who went to clear snow from a railway crossing located near the village of Velikiy Morets, Volgograd region.
The incident was reported on the Russian Telegram channel Astra. Local authorities refrained from commenting on the origin of the missile, but the media noted that fragments of Russian missiles had previously been found near Volgograd, which were lost by the occupation forces during attacks on Ukraine.
"The question of what is it will be answered by the Ministry of Defense. All necessary services are already on the spot. No one was injured. Work is underway. That's all I can say," said Galina Zueva, head of the village of Velykyi Morets, Yelansky district.
In 2022, missile debris was already found in the area. At the time, the authorities only reported the destruction of the wreckage but did not recognize whose missiles they were or where they were aimed. Later, however, ASTRA found that on December 16, 2022, additional fuel tanks from Russian missiles fell on the land of locals. No one was injured but a barn in the village of Dubovoe was damaged.
Earlier, it was reported that explosions occurred in the Russian city of Belgorod on the evening of Monday, January 8. An air raid alert went off in the town. Propagandists claimed that Ukraine had allegedly shelled the city and that air defense systems were "working."
As OBOZ.UA reported, earlier, governor Gladkov addressed the residents of the Belgorod region. He advised Russians to evacuate from the "shelling of peaceful neighborhoods" to the regional center.
