When choosing a place to store potatoes, it is important to make sure that they remain dry and there is no moisture.
Put the potatoes in a container with an open lid made of breathable material, as you need to ensure air circulation. This will keep the vegetable dry so that it doesn't spoil before it's time.
A paper sack, burlap sack, wooden crate, cardboard box, and a bushel or wicker basket are the best choice as they provide good ventilation.
If you bought potatoes in the store, never store them in the original packaging like plastic bag or plastic container.
Potatoes should also be stored away from where fruits and onions as both release a lot of ethylene, a natural plant hormone that promotes ripening.
