What are the main downsides of vacationing in Zanzibar
Journalist and tourist Yana Hrybovska spent her winter vacation on the island of Zanzibar (Tanzania) and shared the significant disadvantages of this destination.
According to the traveler, not all restaurants and cafes on the island comply with sanitary and hygienic standards. The journalist stated that in some restaurants, the waiter may offer to pour water on your hands from a jug. Moreover, it is not known whether the cooks and employees of local catering establishments wash their hands during the preparation and serving of dishes, BBC reports.
Another disadvantage of the island of Zanzibar is comfort and amenities. Local people travel by buses and dala-dala (similar to minibuses), which do not meet the standards of comfort and safety.
In addition, Zanzibar has a low level of restaurant service. Most often, you can see a cafe with 3-4 tables standing in the sand, and a kitchen located right behind the partition.
Many tourists also do not like the intrusiveness of local guides and sellers - they constanly offer visitors to buy a coconut, a shirt or a giraffe figurine.
