Usyk to pay prize money for 2024 Olympics medals: how much will boxers get
Former world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) has decided to further motivate the Ukrainian boxing team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The winner of London 2012 promised to pay prize money to the medalists of the tournament in the French capital.
This was reported by the Champion website. According to the website, before the start of the 2024 Games, Usyk met with the Ukrainian Olympic boxing team, handed out envelopes with cash prizes, and promised to pay out of his pocket very substantial prize money for medals in Paris.
Usyk estimated the gold medal at $80,000, the silver medal at $70,000, and the bronze medal will be worth $50,000. Earlier, it became known how much prize money the state would pay to the athletes.
Our country is represented in the Olympic boxing tournament by Aider Abduraimov (weight category up to 57 kilograms), Oleksandr Khyzhniak (up to 80 kilograms), and Dmytro Lovchynskyi (92+, eliminated in the preliminary round). Khyzhniak is the vice-champion of the Tokyo Games, where he sensationally lost by knockout to Brazilian Hebert Souza in the final.
