Ukrainian wrestler will be "repaired" by doctors before the final of the 2024 Olympics
Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Parviz Nasibov was seriously injured in the semifinals of the 2024 Olympic Games. In a match in the 67 kg weight category against Hasrat Jafarov from Azerbaijan, the 25-year-old athlete from Mykolaiv almost lost an eye.
Coach Volodymyr Shatskikh said that Nasibov should visit doctors before the upcoming final.
"We agreed to have the fluid in his eye pumped out, because Parviz can't see with it anymore, and the situation may worsen by tomorrow. "What did they hit him with? It seemed to be his head, or maybe his elbow, because in the fight everything flies... His nose is also broken, so now doctors will repair it, and I think everything should be fine tomorrow," Shatskikh said.
The coach added that Parviz's performance was character-driven.
"As always, although many critics said that his Tokyo final was a surprise, he proved to everyone once again that he deserves to be in the Olympic final," Volodymyr summed up.
We'd like to remind you that Nasibov reached the semifinals in absolutely fantastic style. Our compatriot created an unrealistic comeback in the match against Amantur Ismailov from Kyrgyzstan - 7:6.
The final against Iranian Saeed Esmaili Leivesi will take place on August 8. This will be the 9th fight on the B-carpet.
