Ukraine's women's national team has reached the final of the 2024 Olympics in the team sabre tournament, guaranteeing itself a medal (gold or silver). Olga Kharlan, Alina Komashchuk, Olena Kravatska, and Yuliia Bakastova (reserve) defeated the Japanese team 45:32 in the 1/2 finals.

The match did not start well for Harlan. With the score at 2-3, the Ukrainian twisted her ankle but managed to continue the fight against Risa Takashima and won her duel 5-3.

Olena Kravatska drew her fight against Misaki Emuri, while Alina Komashchuk was stronger than Shihomi Fukushima (5:3).

The fight between Olena Kravatska and Risa Takashima turned out to be very difficult for the 32-year-old native of Chernivtsi. The 25-year-old Japanese won 2:9, making the overall score 17:20 not in our favor. After that, the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team was forced to replace Kravatska with Bakastova.

It was up to Harlan to save the day and Olha did a great job, defeating Fukushima 8-2 (25:22). Komashchuk managed to increase Ukraine's advantage to 5 points (30:25).

Against Yuliia, the Japanese also brought out their reserve Seri Ozaki. Their duel ended in favor of the 28-year-old from Kyiv. Komashchuk continued her winning streak (5:2).

Harlan took to the mat with the score of 40:31 in favor of Ukraine and finally sealed the victory.

In the final, the Ukrainians will face the South Korean national team. The match will start at 21:00 Kyiv time.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, earlier Ukrainian saber fencers defeated Italy 45:37 in the 1/4 finals.

On July 29, Harlan won a fantastic victory in the bronze medal match at the 2024 Olympic Games, which are currently taking place in Paris. The 33-year-old native of Mykolaiv made a comeback in the confrontation with South Korea's Choi Seobin, 15:14.
