"They will not allow to win": Povetkin's manager says what will happen in the Usyk – Fury rematch
Russian manager Dmitry Ivanov, who represents the interests of former world heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin, believes Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) is the clear favorite to rematch Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs). The Russian representative expressed confidence that the Ukrainian boxer would win an early victory.
He expressed this opinion in an interview with the propaganda publication Sport-Express. According to the Russian, Usyk is approaching the second confrontation with Fury with full confidence, while Tyson will have a hard time due to a lack of discipline and problems in the training camp.
"I think Usyk will win this time too. Tyson has a very strange training regimen for the fight, and he often breaks the regimen between fights, which can't but affect his chances. Plus, Usyk goes into the fight as the clear leader, which will give him confidence. These are the main factors that will not allow Tyson to win. I think that this fight may even end in a knockout in favor of Oleksandr, I'm sure of it," Ivanov said.
It should be noted that recently, Russia has been actively wishing for Usyk's defeat on December 21. Earlier, well-known promoter Vladimir Khryunov supported Fury. Russian national team coach Eduard Kravtsov also hinted that he wanted to see the British victory. And Olympic champion Aleksey Tishchenko, speaking about the rematch, "forgot" that a Ukrainian would take part in it. In turn, the Russian media reacted with envy to our champion's fee.
On December 1, an epic promotional video of the Usyk – Fury rematch was released. It has already been called a disgrace to American boxing companies.
Interestingly, before the rematch, a strange situation occurred when bookmakers underestimated the Ukrainian's chances of success. At the same time, experts continue to insist that Usyk will win again. For example, veteran Dereck Chisora noted that Fury has virtually no chance of revenge. And British promoter Ben Shalom simply gave up on Tyson and his ability to beat the Ukrainian.
On October 23, Usyk and Fury had their first duel of looks before the second fight. The Ukrainian appeared unusually, changing his image. In addition, he forced his opponent to take an unusual step to help the Armed Forces.
Earlier it became known that Tyson wanted to organize a trilogy with Oleksandr to go down in boxing history. The Briton also accused the Ukrainian of disrupting the timing of the rematch.
In the first fight, Oleksandr defeated Tyson by split decision 114:113, 113:114, 115:112 and unified all the heavyweight belts.
Our compatriot also shared his expectations for the second fight with Fury and responded to accusations of fraud during the May 18 fight. In addition, the Ukrainian told what he learned from this fight.
The legendary Wladimir Klitschko shared his expectations for the rematch between Usyk and Fury. And ex-champion Amir Khan disagreed with the forecasts for the fight's repeat.
In turn, Russian boxing coach Andrei Ivichuk called Tyson the winner of the upcoming rematch with Oleksandr. And the Ukrainian named the only boxer he is interested in fighting after the second fight with the Briton.
Fury also responded to Usyk's team representatives when they compared him to dictator Vladimir Putin. The Gypsy King explained why he turned away from the Ukrainian during a duel of the eyes before the first fight.
