Tastier than Shuba: how to prepare light herring and processed cheese salad
Herring is a very healthy and tasty product that is a source of omega-3 fatty acids. Herring can be used to make delicious and hearty salads, appetizers, and sandwiches.
A cook shared a recipe for a delicious herring salad called Louise on her YouTube channel.
Ingredients:
- herring fillet - 2 pcs
- boiled eggs - 5 pcs
- boiled potatoes - 3 pcs
- onions - 1 pc
- pickled cucumbers - 100 g
- green onions - 50 g
- 9% vinegar - 2 teaspoons
- processed cheese - 150 g
- mayonnaise, salt and pepper - to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Boil eggs and potatoes until tender and cool. Separate the egg whites and yolks. Grate the potatoes, processed cheese and egg whites on a coarse grater and the yolks on a fine grater.
2. Marinate the onion in sunflower oil, vinegar, sugar and a pinch of salt. Leave for 10 minutes.
3. Cut the herring into small cubes. Finely chop the green onions. Cut the cucumbers into thin semicircles.
4. Assemble the salad in layers in a ring or large salad bowl: potatoes, mayonnaise, pickled onions, herring, mayonnaise, egg white, mayonnaise, green onions, mayonnaise and egg yolk. Top the salad with pickled mushrooms if you want to add sourness or canned peas if you want to soften the taste.
