Our famous tennis player confidently reached the 1/16 finals
Ukraine's third ranked player Elina Svitolina (WTA #31) has won a confident victory in the 1st round of the Olympic tennis tournament. In the match of the 1/32 finals of the 2024 Olympic Games, the 29-year-old from Odesa defeated Japan's Moyuka Uchijima (WTA #66) in two sets - 6:2, 6:1.
The 22-year-old Malaysian native was able to compete with our compatriot only in the first set until the score was 2:2. After that, only the Ukrainian dominated the court. Elina broke three times and took the set on the third time.
In the second game, Svitolina allowed herself to relax a bit only at 5-0, which did not affect the final result.
In the second round, the Ukrainian will play against the strongest pair of Jessica Pegula - Victoria Golubych.
