Suspended Russian gymnasts complained that "Ukraine is closely monitoring our athletes"
Valentina Rodionenko, the head coach of the Russian gymnastics team, complained that Ukrainians are preventing the return of Russian representatives to international tournaments. The coach of the national team also called it normal for athletes to participate in actions in support of the dictatorial regime of Vladimir Putin.
Rodionenko said this in a commentary to the VseProSport portal. The Russian noted that she could not predict the decisions of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) regarding the return of athletes from the Russian Federation to tournaments under the auspices of the organization, as officials carefully study the data on each athlete.
"It's hard to say, the decision on admission is made by the FIG. I don't know who will be admitted or rejected, we are waiting for an answer. It will be clear by mid-February. Perhaps someone will be selectively excluded. Suppose some athlete took a picture at a rally. The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation closely monitors our athletes, passes all this "data" to the FIG, and they make a decision. So it will not be easy. We are waiting and hoping for positive news," Rodionenko said.
Earlier, Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion in the team competition and three-time world champion in artistic gymnastics Nikita Nagorny ended his career due to suspension.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Nikita Nagorny said that "99% of the world is for the return of Russia" and became a laughingstock on the Internet.
