It's no secret that there was a serious shortage of a number of goods during the Soviet era. However, back then, you could find some very interesting products on store shelves that surprise people even today.

For example, in Soviet Union, you could buy orange mayonnaise. FoodOboz will tell you what it is and what it was made of.

The first time Soiet people learned about this type of mayonnaise was back in 1936. At first, people did not understand the taste or purpose of this product, but over time, it became very popular. Thanks to this, Provence, Mustard, Druzhba, Lyubimov, and Orange mayonnaise appeared on store shelves.

The latter was considered a dessert product and contained 35% fat. It also contained 20% orange juice or jam, fruit essence, cornstarch, and citric acid. It had a pronounced orange flavor, and the shelf life was only 30 days, as the product was made without preservatives.

Because of this, orange-flavored mayonnaise was not sold in all stores. It could only be found in specialized establishments where only the elite shopped. But as they did not like the orange mayonnaise at all, it quickly disappeared from the shelves.
