Simpler than the usual charlotte: how to prepare lazy grated apple pie for tea
Apple pie is a real autumn attribute that screams family comfort. Right now, the fruit for this pastry is sweet and juicy, so the dessert is extremely tasty. Besides, it is quite budget-friendly.
The idea of making grated apple pie for tea was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Iryna Kozachuk. This version is much simpler than the traditional charlotte.
Ingredients for the dough:
- butter - 150 g
- flour - 300 g
- baking powder - 1.5 tsp
- egg yolk - 2 pcs
- sour cream - 3 tbsp
Ingredients for the filling:
- apples - 5 pcs
- sugar - 3 tbsp
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- orange - 1 pc (zest)
- orange juice - 0.5 pcs
Method of preparation:
1. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl.
2. Add the cold butter and rub into crumbs with your hands.
3. Add the egg yolks and sour cream and knead the dough.
4. Divide it into two parts, wrap 1/3 in plastic film and put in the freezer. Put the other 2/3 in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
5. Cut the apples into small cubes (it is better to peel them).
6. Melt a piece of butter in a frying pan, add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, zest and juice, and simmer for a few minutes.
7. Roll out the dough from the refrigerator and put it into a 24-centimeter-diameter mold, forming 4-centimeter sides.
8. Put the apples and grate the dough that was in the freezer on top, smoothing it out.
9. Bake in a preheated 180-degree oven for 35-40 minutes until set.
10. Allow the pie to cool slightly before slicing. Serve with a scoop of ice cream.
