Russian Defense Ministry had to recognize the beginning of the AFU offensive in Kursk region: what they say
In the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country Russia recognized the beginning of a new offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. There said that the Ukrainian defenders carried out a counterattack allegedly to stop the Russian offensive.
In particular, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims that Ukrainian forces "launched a counterattack" on Sunday, January 5, around 9 a.m. (8 Kyiv time). The AFU assault group allegedly included two tanks, a demolition vehicle and 12 armored combat vehicles with paratroopers.
The attack was carried out in the direction of the farm Berdin, the Russian Defense Ministry said, and its goal was allegedly to stop the Russian offensive in the Kursk direction.
At the same time, the Russian ministry claims that the "North" group of troops allegedly defeated the AFU assault group, destroying tanks, a demolition vehicle and seven out of 12 UBMs.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Russian propagandists on Sunday began complaining about the breakthrough of Ukrainian troops in Kursk region. According to them, the AFU used armored vehicles, EW, mine-clearing and REB means, which makes Russian UAVs ineffective.
According to Z-war correspondents, the Ukrainian defenders attacked the Russians in several directions, and the goal is to capture Kurchatov and the nuclear power plant.
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov arrived in Kursk to help the Russian army. The Russian Federation claims that his visit is supposedly a planned one.
