Russia strikes at Ukraine's gas infrastructure: the consequences are now known
The target of a massive night attack by Russian troops on January 15 was Ukraine's gas infrastructure. However, this will not affect the gas supply to the population, and all the consequences will be eliminated shortly.
This was reported by "Naftogaz of Ukraine." "As before, the enemy seeks to leave Ukrainians without heat and gas," the company said in a statement.
"Naftogaz" assured that all the group's enterprises are operating normally. The consequences of the attack will be eliminated soon, but despite this, gas supplies to the population are uninterrupted.
"We are grateful to all power engineers who ensure the country's energy stability in extreme conditions. We thank the air defense forces and all the units involved for their protection," said Roman Chumak, Acting Chairman of the Board of "Naftogaz of Ukraine."
Earlier, the attack on the gas infrastructure was confirmed by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. "The enemy targeted gas infrastructure and facilities that ensure normal life. Thanks to the air defense forces, the Russian scenario has failed once again," he wrote and noted that the power system is working steadily.
After the attack, emergency blackout schedules were introduced in several regions of Ukraine, but they were canceled in all regions at 9 a.m. Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko noted that emergency blackouts were introduced in a preventive mode. There are no plans to introduce hourly blackout schedules, although it is still necessary to save electricity.
Preventive blackouts during the launch of enemy missiles are introduced to minimize possible losses to the power system in the event of new damage. The goal is to save the surviving power generation and transmission facilities.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles of various types during the night and morning. Air defense forces destroyed 47 enemy drones and shot down 30 Russian missiles.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, in case of a power outage, Ukrainians should unplug their appliances and not turn on all appliances immediately after the power is restored. To protect against power surges, you should install voltage regulators, stabilizers, or uninterruptible power supplies.
